Saturday, May 19th is the start of something very BIG in Brookline! There will be an all day 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the gymnasiums of Brookline High School to raise funds for the Brookline Teen Center Initiative.
The Brookline Teen Center Initiative, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Brookline, is sponsoring the basketball tournament to raise awareness and local support for the creation of the Brookline Teen Center. One hundred teams representing Brookline's young and the young-at heart will come together during this all-day tournament.
The vision and goal of the Brookline Teen Center Initiative is to create a safe and enjoyable
facility where our teens can engage in constructive, educational and leisure activities. This is a critical issue for Brookline. Extended day is eliminated in the Town of Brookline after grade 5. Since there is no Boys and Girls club in the town, there is a tremendous need for after-school programming for teens.
Local businesses and community leaders are asked to consider contributing to this exciting town-wide event by becoming a MVP, All Star or Team Sponsor. All contributions are welcome and will be used to support the planning and creation of the Brookline Teen Center, including the involvement of teens through internships, staffing of the project, piloting teen center programming and construction of a facility. More information on sponsorship is avaiable online at www.btc3on3.org.
To participate in the tournament, go to BTC 3on3 website and register. Registration is taken on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want a spot in the BTC 3on3 for your team, it's a good idea to register early.
