The Brookline Arts Center is a well-known and highly respected grassroots community art center that has provided art classes and exhibitions of contemporary art by regional artists for over 45 years. The annual Crafts Showcase fundraiser exhibits and sells work by nearly 100 artists during the month of December, and is one of the Brookline Arts Center’s most important fundraisers.

Known for its environmental consciousness (it was the first Green-certified restaurant in Boston), its regionally-sourced and inspired menu and its sophisticated cellar of American wines, The Fireplace   in Washington Square is one of Brookline’s most popular and well-regarded restaurants.  Solomon thinks of The Fireplace as a vibrant part of the community and continuously brings new offerings to the table with that in mind -- from Fireside Chats (fireside tastings of wine and cocktails on Saturday afternoons), to a new summer music festival, to live Jazz and Latin music programs on Wednesday and Thursday nights, to literary events in the restaurant. Solomon is also an active representative of the Washington Square and Coolidge Corner merchants.

Each December, Solomon and The Fireplace contribute specialty food for two important Crafts Showcase events at the Brookline Arts Center. This year’s gala Preview will be held on Wednesday, December 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. The Jazz Brunch and Art Treasures Award honoring Jim Solomon will be held on Sunday, December 13 from 10 a.m. till noon. Both will feature food and drinks by The Fireplace, with the exhibition and sale of fine art and craft by nearly 100 artists.

The Jazz Brunch and Art Treasures award will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday December 13th at the Brookline Arts Center, located at 86 Monmouth Street, one block from Beacon Street. The evening’s guests will also be the first to shop for artworks and gifts at the Crafts Showcase, which is the Brookline Arts Center’s annual winter fundraiser. The ticket price is $35, and will raise money to support art classes and scholarships at the Brookline Arts Center. For more information or to reserve tickets, please call the Brookline Arts Center at 617-566-5715.
