Volunteer Math Tutors Needed

Volunteer Math Tutors Needed

The Boston Teachers Union School, located in Jamaica Plain, is seeking after school math tutors! Volunteers will work with students in grades 6-8 on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays. Tutors work one-on-one, or with small groups of students, in order to help scholars better understand math concepts and complete their math assignments. Tutoring starts at 3:15 and runs until 4:30. Please contact David Weinstein with any questions and/or to sign up to be a volunteer.

Puppet Showplace Presents Internationally-Acclaimed Canadian Puppet Company Les Sages Fous in Northeast Tour of “The Orphan Circus”

After two European tours and an appearance at La Mama Experimental Theatre Club in New York City, acclaimed Canadian puppet company Les Sages Fous ("The Wise Fools") will perform "The Orphan Circus" at Puppet Showplace Theatre. The show is presented as part of the Puppets at Night series for adults and teens.

'Animal Magnetism' Comes to Goddard House

Goddard House Assisted Living in Brookline recently hosted and presented Animal Magnetism: The Healing Power of Pets for People in partnership with HouseWorks.

The program for eldercare professionals explored the science and practical aspects of creating pet therapy or animal visitation programs for older adults. Expert presenters included a veterinarian along with staff and volunteers (both human and animal) of PetPals, a branch of FriendshipWorks.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts To Volunteer at Olmsted Park At 3rd Annual Service Day Today

On September 18, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts will hold its third annual companywide Service Day. One Community. One Blue. More than 3,000 associates,
known as BlueCrew, will volunteer all together on one day at 39 different community sites across the state—including Olmstead Park in Brookline, part of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy. 

MRC and CERT To Hold Volunteer Information Event

The Brookline Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Brookline Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) are enthusiastically looking for new volunteers to join the more than 300 medical and non-medical Brookline volunteers.

Brookline and Newton-Needham Chambers of Commerce Enjoy Networking Breakfast at Fenway Park

Members of the Brookline Chamber of Commerce and the Newton-Needham Chamber of Commerce took part in a networking breakfast at Fenway Park recently. Over 150 members of both Chambers attended the event which included a talk by Sam Kennedy, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Red Sox and the President of Fenway Sports Management.

Washington Square Association Launches Live Summer “BYOC” Music Series

This summer, the neighborhood organization that brought dogs and dog-lovers The Wagathon, will play host to five outdoor evenings of live musical entertainment – Washington Square: Live Summer "BYOC" Music Series. Organized by The Washington Square Association, the events are free and open to the public. Guests can treat themselves to choice seats at the many al-fresco dining establishments such as The Fireplace, The Abbey, The Washington Square Tavern, The Publick House and Golden Temple or "Bring Your Own Chair" and relax on the friendly and spacious sidewalks of the area.
