Brookline - The Coolidge Corner Theatre is proud to present Evidence: A Jazz Creation, a multi-layered live performance featuring jazz trumpet virtuoso Lew Soloff, bass player François Moutin, vocalist/cellist Anne Sila and dancer/choreographer Courtney Giannone. Performing together for the first time in Boston, this group will create a jazz event with texture, sound, movement, and joy.
A virtuoso known for his tremendous range and superior technical command, Lew Soloff has performed with a who’s who of jazz musicians, including Gil Evans, Machito, Joe Henderson, Maynard Ferguson, Mel Lewis, Thad Jones, Clark Terry, Tito Puente, Ornette Coleman, and Carla Bley, among numerous others. As a member of the groundbreaking jazz-rock band Blood Sweat & Tears, his trumpet solos became an indelible part of American culture.
With François Moutin, hailed for his “practically unparalleled” chops on the bass, and Anne Sila, Soloff has formed a new ensemble, Evidence. A mind-blowing talent at only 21, Sila just arrived from her native France and channels the best scat singing stars to thrill new audiences of 21st-century jazz.
Evidence: A Jazz Creation will feature improvisations on jazz standards and new tunes, kicking things up with further improvisation through voice and dance. Tickets are $20 general admission or $17 students, seniors, and Coolidge members. For more information and to purchase tickets online, visit http://www.coolidge.org/jazz. Tickets also available at the Coolidge Corner Theatre box office, 290 Harvard Street, Brookline.
Evidence: A Jazz Creation is part of OnStage @ the Coolidge, an ongoing series of live performances from an array of exciting artists. Support for OnStage @ the Coolidge comes from The Hamilton Company Charitable Foundation and Bay State Federal Savings Charitable Foundation.
